Today?s top network marketing companies are built for speed. As a company?s business model is being developed, every aspect of the company?s structure is analyzed and digitized. Technology is everywhere. Every process that can be automated is automated.
Automation tools such as sales funnels, web-based contact managers, multi-step autoresponders, and downline management systems are just a few of the tools putting online network marketers on the fast track to success.
But most people on the internet today have very limited technical skills. On a scale of 1-10, most of them are 2s and 3s. Yet, network marketing is a business of duplication. Every program needs to be geared to common people, not specialists. So make sure your opportunity passes the KISS (Keep It Simple for Success) test.
To help illustrate this point further, let's look at a famous example: Mark Yarnell. At age 36, Mark had to borrow $179 to get his business started in the multi-level industry. Amazingly, over the years he has built his organization into a $70 million per year international network and has helped create numerous millionaires in the process.
Mark Yarnell was, and still is, one of the most effective network marketing recruiters of our time. Schooled in the extremely difficult, yet potentially lucrative stairstep breakaway compensation plans of the 1980s, Mark really had his work cut out for him when he started his MLM career in the mid ?80s. Mark learned about the power of simplicity early in his career and it became the key to his success.
For recruiting new distributors, Mark Yarnell always preferred inviting contacts to his living room for a casual, no pressure business briefing. He would give these presentations in a polo shirt, jeans, and cowboy boots. No hotel rooms or party plans for Mark. In this setting Mark became very skilled at signing up new distributors using a simple company introduction and company video presentation.
After viewing the video night after night, over and over again, Mark decided to break up the monotony of the video by giving his own business presentation. Mark is an excellent presenter, who was trained in public speaking. Although his presentation was much superior to the company video, he soon found his results were dropping like a rock.
Fewer sponsorships and even fewer referrals led Mark to analyze his new recruiting process. Why were his results floundering? Even though people were entranced by Mark's charisma and charm, they said ?no? to his offer.
A study done a few years ago may give us some insights into Mark?s dilemma. A survey of thousands of individuals revealed their greatest fears. What do you suppose was the number one fear among most of those surveyed? It was the ?fear of public speaking.? Now we might have some clues as to why Mark?s guests were ?afraid? so sign up.
The people in Mark?s living room saw him as the model for how to build a successful network marketing business. They realized that to duplicate his success, they would have to duplicate his actions. Comments like, ?I know Mark will have success with this because he?s such a great speaker, but I could never do what he does,? were all too common among Mark?s guests. Yet when Mark was using the video, his results were fantastic. Why? Because everyone thought to themselves, ?I may not be as polished as Mark, but I know how to push the PLAY button on a YouTube site.? Even though the presentation on the video was not as dynamic as Mark?s live briefing, it still worked better for recruiting AND duplication.
But...
Even though simplicity is the key to creating duplication in the masses, this principle can be taken too far. There are many attitudes, procedures, techniques, and skills that MUST BE LEARNED if distributors expect to have any kind of success. Simplicity is no cure for laziness or mediocrity. Network marketing can be simplified to the max, but it will never be easy to build a million-dollar business.
Hard work, determination, and character will always be needed to supplement the duplication principle. So don?t blame your company for failure when they have done all they can to simplify the marketing process. All of the simplification and automation in the world will not save a failing downline when the distributors are not committed to doing whatever it takes to succeed. You need to find ambitious distributors who are willing to work hard and follow a proven system.
Just be sure to teach your new recruits to follow a proven plan, using both duplicatable and non-duplicatable techniques. Teach new recruits the true principles of success and duplication and allow them to manage themselves. Allow them to draw upon their strengths as well as the strengths of their upline and downline. Encourage them to try a variety of approaches and support them in the techniques that work the best. Teach them how to make their systems MORE duplicatable, but never be afraid to venture off the beaten path in search of better results.
In Summary
Simplicity is the key to duplication. And duplication is synonymous with success in network marketing. When you select an MLM, one of your first concerns should be: How easily can a distributor RETAIL the company?s products to customers? Are the ?non-sales? types able to explain the opportunity to their friends in a manner compelling enough to recruit at least one new person every month? The answers to these questions are critical to your success.
???Look for a company that can Keep IT Simple, and you'll create MAXIMUM DUPLICATION in your downline.
