There has been a significant growth in the number of people forming home-based businesses in the recent past and, with the great reasons below, it?s no wonder! Covid-19 has allowed millions to realise these benefits.
1. Time Savings ? A typical door-to-door commute in a major City these days is perhaps an hour. That?s 2 hours a day or 10 hours a week. Totally dead time! A typical commute in a home-based business is perhaps 30 seconds, less than 5 minutes per week. Since time is our only ?real? asset, why waste it commuting to/from work?
2. Cost Savings ? The cost to commute is not small, but what about the cost of smarter and weatherproof clothes (and the cost of cleaning them), the cost of eating lunch outside versus at home, the inevitable mid-morning cappuccino and mid-afternoon latte plus the after-hours drink and tapas ? it all adds up over a whole year!
3. Second Income ? Sometimes when a family decides that both parents should work, the second income can be almost wiped out by the costs mentioned above plus the child-care costs plus home help plus a new mobile phone, plus ?
4. Job Security ? The age of corporate paternalism is long dead, yet many have not adjusted to the new reality. There is no job security except that which you create for yourself. Going out to work for someone else can never create it. Again covid has emphasised this to all of us.
5. Taxes ? Many household expenses that are incurred in the running of your home-based business (electricity, computer, stationery, rental, your medical fees and even your domestic appliances) may be tax deductible. This varies by country and requires proper tax advice but in all cases it will probably mean much lower taxes than being an employee, based on the same income level.
6. Boss ? One of the major benefits of a home-based business is that you are your own boss and even if you are not used to being a boss and find it challenging, it probably seems a lot better than dealing with the boss you have now!
7. Stress ? Many people are so stressed at work because of the conditions, office politics, lack of either worthwhile job content and/or appreciation, matrix organization conflicts etc, they will actually become sick with stress and unhappiness. Our immune systems are our best weapon to stay healthy, yet stress attacks it so harshly so that many will often fall ill. Exercising or meditating or learning about health, wellness and managing stress (perhaps during those extra 10 hours per week - see #1 above) could help a lot!
8. Family First ? When both parents work ?outside?, especially if one of them travels a great deal, tension at home can increase. Too little (and too poor quality) time together is often cited in divorce proceedings and as the principal cause of ?problem kids?.
9. Government Incentives ? For several reasons ranging from keeping employment numbers low to reducing traffic congestion, many governments actively encourage home-based businesses and some actually provide incentives. Check out all such incentives on offer.
10. Taking Personal Responsibility ? When you start to recognize how much ?The World at Work? is changing and at such an accelerating rate, it?s just plain responsible that you explore all reasonable options to ensure you are not taken by surprise one day by receiving ?that letter? (the one that starts with the words ?We regret to inform you that ...?) from your boss.
A home-based business may not be for everyone and has some potential pitfalls too, but it is a career option not to be overlooked.
An MLM business is perhaps the GREATEST way to make good money while realising all of the above benefits of a home-based business
